OTC appoints new Assistant Director Short Courses

As the nation’s first specialized higher educational institute for hospitality and tourism, Oman Tourism College (OTC) has appointed Safa Al Balushi as Assistant Director of Short Courses. The appointment falls in line with a trend across the global tourism industry, which has observed a growing gender gap with almost twice the number of females when compared to most other major industries.

Dr. Abdulkarim Al Mughairi, Dean of OTC, said, “As a first-of-its-kind educational institute in Oman we are integral to the nation’s economic master plan for tourism under Tanfeedh; consequently it is imperative that our faculty’s growth is underpinned by continued learning and the acquisition of market leading talent. Whilst our Director of Short Courses further specializes in doctoral study in the UK, we have recruited Safa to lead our growing range of short courses. As an industry professional focussed on learning, hospitality and human resources, Safa is a most apt appointment and we wholeheartedly welcome her as a key player in our continued progress as a college, as well as a grassroots contributor to the local tourism sector”.

Safa joins OTC following her four-year tenure as Assistant Manager of Learning and Development at the InterContinental Hotel in Muscat. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Muscat’s Higher College of Technology.

Applications are accepted from January to February and July to September for Spring Intake and Fall Intake.
